Award winning Project Challenge in partnership with Go Educate is expanding their Alternative Provision of education programmes , significantly extending the range of its educational offer from 3 days to 5 and to include 4 GCSEs.
“For the last few years, In partnership with Calderdale schools, Project Challenge has been providing education programmes for a small cohort of learners aged 14 to 16 who have been at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream school or have been particularly vulnerable. This has kept these learners in education,“ explained Lorna Butterick, Business Manager at Project Challenge.
The new programme has been developed in conjunction with a local school, deemed OFSTED outstanding for their partnerships with current alternative provision.
“All 14-16 learners who have been on our programmes have achieved positive outcomes of achieving qualifications and returning to school or progressing to post 16 provision at College,” said Mrs. Butterick.
The new programme offered in conjunction with Brighouse based Go Educate will now offer 4 GCSE’s to 14-16 year old learners. These include: Maths, English Language and Literature and Foundation Science. These will be taught by Go Educate teachers across two days to learners on existing BTEC Level 1 vocational programmes: Sport and Active Leisure, Public Services, Hospitality and Workskills.
Gareth Bray, managing director at GoEducate said, "At GoEducate, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of educational excellence, using the AP government consultation as guidance while ensuring that every decision and practice is centered around what matters most—the students. Their growth, well-being, and success are the foundation of everything we do, and we look forward to working alongside Project Challenge to provide these opportunities."
The scheme will be in line with DoE proposals that alternative education provision should be an ‘intervention and not a destination.’ The learners progress will be reviewed every half-term with the intention of re-integrating back to school when they are ready.
“For over thirty years Project Challenge has been at the forefront of providing innovative education for some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable learners in Calderdale. This new GCSE provision is another demonstration that we continue to be the leading provider of alternative education in Calderdale setting goals and standards for others to follow,” said Lorna Butterick.
