Award winning Project Challenge offers Alternative Provision for 14-16 year old learners .

"The programmes are aimed at a small cohort of learners aged who were at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream school or are particularly vulnerable and have kept these learners in education,“ explained Lorna Butterick, Business Manager at Project Challenge.

The AP programme has been developed in conjunction with a local school that OFSTED described as outstanding for their partnerships with current alternative provision.

“All 14-16 learners who have been on our programmes have achieved positive outcomes of achieving qualifications and returning to school or progressing to post 16 provision at College,” said Mrs. Butterick.

The scheme is in line with DoE proposals that alternative education provision should be an ‘intervention and not a destination.’  The learners progress will be reviewed every half-term with the intention of re-integrating back to school when they are ready.

“For over thirty years Project Challenge has been at the forefront of providing innovative education for some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable learners in Calderdale. This new provision is another demonstration that we continue to be the leading provider of alternative education in Calderdale setting goals and standards for others to follow,” said Lorna Butterick.
